Included in this program are composers from the old Austro-Hungarian empire, Galicia, what is now Poland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and the Ukraine. Among the composers are piano Pieces by Mozart, Chopin, Bartok, and unusual pieces by Ligeti, Martinu, Kurtag, Laks, Tansman, Schulhof, Ullmann, Weinberg and Senator.

Maya Levy is an unusually versatile artist. She is a classically trained pianist, singer, actress and flamenco dancer. Maya holds a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oberlin College, USA. After her graduation, Maya has studied voice in New York City with Ms. Carol O’Hara, and medieval music with Anne Azema from The Boston Camerata. She performed ‘Gershwin’s Bess You Is My Woman’ Now with Bass-Baritone, Robert Osborne and at the 2005 benefit concert of Yonkers Animal Shelter. She sang a classical recital at The West Park Presbyterian Church, New York. She Performs regularly Irish songs at The Irish Circle in New York City.

She is the recipient of prestigious prizes at worldwide competitions, such as Novis Grant. Ms. Glaser has been a soloist with a number of major orchestras. She has collaborated with artists such as Pinkus Zuckerman, Lukas Foss etc. She is frequently invited as principal cellist with Jupiter Symphony Orchestra and The Israel Chamber Orchestra. Her wide repertoire includes work by Paganini, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Manuel DeFalla, Mendelssohn and more. Her breathtaking technique and popular repertoire will enchant your audience.

She writes down each phrase or words written by her audience, reads it back to the group, and this becomes their composite poem to the music. She performs program piano pieces and recites the literary source that inspired the composer. As an example, she plays Debussy's 'Evening Harmony' from' Prelude #4 book#1' inspired by Baudelaire's exquisite poem, or Ernest Bloch's 'Poems of the Sea' inspired by Walt Whitman's In 'Cabin'd Ship at Sea'. Her CD is on sale for $15 at the end of the performance.

Shakespeare In Music- with Miriam Brickman, pianist

London Times Miriam Brickman, Pianist/Reciter, performs piano pieces inspired by Shakespeare. She recites in full epoch costume from his various plays and sonnets. For example, she plays Prokovieff's Romeo and Juliet suite, from the famous ballet, and recites appropriate quotations. Macbeth and The Witches, by Smetana is preceded by The Three Witches Speeches from Shakespeare's Macbeth. This program will be performed as a solo or duo program.

Under The Umbrella of Terezin- with Miriam Brickman, pianist

Miriam Brickman, pianist, of a worldwide stature, performs dramatic piano pieces composed by the Jewish holocaust inmates of Terezin such as Ullman, Haas, and Schulhof. She combines these piano pieces with an excellent Mezzo-Soprano who sings original cabaret songs used in shows at the concentration camp, between 1939-1945. Composers include Fredy Raymond (1900-1954), Martin Roman (1913-1996), Adolf Strauss (1902-44), Karel Venk (1917-1945).

Flamenco! Dance With Me! with Maya Levy
3-4 weeks workshop

No experience is necessary to participate Maya Levy is a flamenco instructor, with a strong background in classical piano, singing and acting. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oberlin College, USA. Maya's passion for Flamenco started at an early age while watching master classes with master flamenco dancer, Luis Montero. She has danced under Andrea Del Conte and performed in New York City at the Lotus Theater Dance Studio. Maya will teach a three- to four- week -long interactive workshop of basic flamenco steps and rhythms, interspersed with historical context. She will also have her audience listen to famous recording of contemporary flamenco musicians. By the end of this workshop her students will have a better understanding of the intricate rhythmical forms of Flamenco. She will introduce three dance forms: Bulerias, Tangos and Sevillanas. Her audience participates in her demonstrations. Her classes are friendly, fun and full of energy
